Growing up in rural Nova Scotia, Daniel Rushton developed an early appreciation for plants and landscapes. After more than twenty years working as a fine art painter and set designer, he shifted his focus toward horticulture and garden making.
Rushton founded Rushton Garden Works to bring together his interests in design, craftsmanship, and living landscapes. Based in Brooklyn, he designs, maintains, and prunes residential gardens throughout New York City with an approach grounded in the principle of right plant, right place.
